THE SUMMER MARKET: AUG 4 – 7, 2024, JAVITS CENTER

WHITE PLAINS, NY, July 25, 2014… Reflecting growth in the demand and availability of American-made home and lifestyle resources, a record 314 products will be showcased in the “Made in the USA” product display at NY NOW®, the Market for Home+ Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), August 16-20, 2014 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. A complete list of featured products is available online at http://nynow.studio98test.com/TheShow/AwardsPromotionsDisplays/MadeintheUSASummer2014Participants.aspx

“We experienced a surge of product applications for the ‘Made in the USA’ exhibit this summer – nearly double last summer’s total,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and senior vice president. “American-made is a cornerstone of the craft community, and there is remarkable growth in this category, as mainstream manufacturers have begun to understand, and embrace, the advantages of domestic production.”

The exhibit, which is curated by designer Paul Thompson, features a cross-category assortment of handmade and factory-produced products including: The 2015 Kate Libby Calendar made in Maine by Art For Everyday/Willard Publishing; the Statement Peacock Necklace made in Montana by Octavia Bloom; the Organic Herbal Tea Gift Box made in New York by Organically yours, Miss Tea™; “Baby’s Year in Photos” and “Our Year in Photos” albums made in Rhode Island by Rag & Bone Bindery; Whoa-Bots™, Puzzled Blocks™ and Match Stacks™ made in Illinois by Tree Hopper Toys; the Journeys table lamp made in Massachusetts by Ugone & Thomas Company; and the Denise tie collection made in Georgia by Working Class Studio, a division of SCAD.

Products accepted for the display represent all four NY NOW collections, and nearly 20% of NY NOW’s 2,800+ exhibitors have identified themselves as suppliers of American-made products. Special “Made in USA” logos will appear on booth signs and in relevant company listings in the NY NOW Market directory.

As an extension of this, NY NOW partnered with CRAFT (Craft Retailers’ Association For Tomorrow) in 2013 to develop specific criteria to identify and credential handmade American products, making it easier for retailers to identify, source and sell crafts made in America. Companies that meet this more rigorous credentialing will have “Handmade in USA” logos visible in their booths during the Market.

NY NOW, the Market for Home + Lifestyle will run Saturday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94. NY NOW’s four comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, HANDMADE and NEW! – will encompass 100,000 products in 400+ product categories. Some 33,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80 countries worldwide are expected. Information and registration is available online at www.nynow.com.
