Sol Proaño will debut her handmade jewelry at NY NOW

New York, NY—January 28, 2019 — Sol Proaño will
debut her globally inspired jewelry line at the February 2019 edition of NY
NOW. With the name Origin, the collection embraces the designer’s roots while
maintaining a simple yet refined aesthetic.
Inspired by the landscapes of her natal Chile, Sol Proaño’s
jewelry marries the soul of the Andes with American minimalist style. The
collection mixes both clean lines and organic shapes, as well as metals like
recycled sterling silver and 14k goldfill. In this way, Sol integrates her very
dissimilar visual experiences in South America and the United States into a
very distinctive body of work.
At age 27, Sol moved from Chile to the US and left her career as
an Acoustical Engineer to go into a Jewelry and Design program in California.
Currently living and working in NYC, Sol brings to her jewelry collection her
meditations on migration, multiculturalism, the experience of living abroad and
her need to experience the calm and openness of nature.

Sol Proaño creates one-of-a-kind jewelry that marries her South
American roots with American minimalist style. Made for women who think
globally, her pieces mix both clean lines and organic shapes, incorporating
textural elements such as metal hammering, leather, and braiding. The result is

A trained metalsmith, Sol Proaño makes her jewelry primarily
with recycled materials that are purchased, whenever possible, from other
US-based businesses. All Sol Proaño pieces are crafted one at a time in New
